Email Sequence

A planned series of emails sent over time to a prospect, typically including an initial email and follow-ups.

What is Email Sequence?

An email sequence is a series of emails sent to the same recipient over a defined time period. A typical cold email sequence might be:

  • Email 1 (Day 1): Initial outreach with value proposition
  • Email 2 (Day 3-4): Follow-up if no response
  • Email 3 (Day 7-8): Value-add or new angle
  • Email 4 (Day 14): Breakup email (final attempt)

Sequence best practices: 1. Each email should be able to stand alone 2. Add new value or angles in follow-ups 3. Keep follow-ups shorter than initial email 4. Respect non-responses (don't over-email) 5. Always include easy opt-out

Our approach: We recommend 2 emails total (initial + 1 follow-up), then recycling the lead with a fresh campaign in 2 months. This protects sender reputation while maintaining contact.

Why It Matters

  • 1Most responses come from follow-ups, not first emails
  • 2Structured approach prevents over-emailing
  • 3Allows testing different angles
  • 4Balances persistence with professionalism
